MOST COUPLES MARRIED UNDERWATER (SIMULTANEOUSLY) - THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL

On 14 February 2001 (Valentine's Day), 34 couples from 22 countries simultaneously exchanged wedding vows 10 metres (32.8 ft) underwater near Kradan Island, Southern Thailand. This was organized by Trang Chamber of Commerce and Thai Airways International. Only couples holding international diving licences were qualified to participate. Couples received waterproof certificates before taking off their mouthpieces and indulging themselves in an underwater kiss.

MOST EXPENSIVE WEDDING CAKE SLICE - DUKE AND DUCHESS OF WINDSOR'S 1937 WEDDING CAKE

A box containing a piece of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor's 1937 wedding cake sold at Sotheby's, New York, USA on 27 February 1998 for $29,900 (£18,163) to Benjamin and Amanda Yin of San Francisco, USA. The record for most generations of the same family to celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary (60th) is four by the descendants of William and Rose Hill (UK). Lana Turner (1920 - 1995), Mickey Rooney (b. 23 Sept 1922), Zsa Zsa Gabor (b. 6 Feb 1917), Elizabeth Taylor (b. 27 February 1932 - d. 23 March 2011) and Georgia Holt, have each married eight times.

LARGEST WEDDING UNDERWATER - ORKA GROUP LTD

The largest underwater wedding was achieved by 303 divers who attended the marriage ceremony between Ewa Staronska and Pawel Burkowski (both Poland) during an event organised by Orka Group Ltd (Poland) at the Koparki Diving Base, Jaworzno, Poland, on 27 August 2011. The wedding ceremony lasted around 18 minutes and was preceded over by Father Pawel Wrobel, a local priest and licensed frogman.

LARGEST MARRIAGE VOW RENEWAL CEREMONY - MIAMI UNIVERSITY

The largest vow renewal ceremony was achieved by 1,087 couples at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, USA, on, 20 June 2009.

The event was named "Miami Merger Moment", and was the centerpiece of a weekend of festivals known as Alumni Weekend. The event was also in conjunction with celebrating the university's bicentennial year.

FIRST REALITY TV MARRIAGE - DARVA CONGER

In February 2000, Darva Conger (USA), a former emergency room nurse, was selected by Rick Rockwell (USA) to be his bride on Fox's pioneering reality-competition show Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire? (Fox, USA). Although Fox later cancelled rebroadcast of the show and the marriage was quickly annulled, the show drew huge ratings and is credited with launching the reality TV boom.

LARGEST TV AUDIENCE OF WEDDING CEREMONY - THE MARRIAGE OF THE PRINCE OF WALES TO LADY DIANA SPENCER

The largest TV audience for a wedding occurred on 29 July 1981, during the marriage of HRH Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer (both UK), which was seen by an estimated 750 million people in 74 countries.
